Sun Bears

Malayan Sun Bears are listed as vulnerable by the IUCN. These bears are native to Southeast Asia and face several threats. Poachers hunt them for their fur and body parts which are used in folk medicine.  Mothers are killed and their cubs are captured and sold in the pet trade. And their habitat is being destroyed by illegal logging/ deforestation. 

Fun Facts:

Sun bears are arboreal species that spend a lot of their time in trees. They even build nests and sleep in trees.

Sun bears are also known as honey bears because they use their 9 in long tongue to lick honey from bee hives.
