Quokkas….. :)

Quokkas are known as “the happiest animals on earth” and it is easy to see why. But these adorable creatures are listed as vulnerable on the IUCN red list. Their biggest threats are habitat loss and introduced predators including foxes and feral cats.

Quokkas are the smallest members of the macropod family, the same family as kangaroos and wallabies. They are marsupials that live in Australia. The majority of quokkas live on Rottnest Island, a small island just off the coast of Western Australia.

Quokkas are friendly and are known for taking selfies with people. Sadly quokkas on the island have lost all fear of humans. They come up to you and sometimes try to grab your bag or jacket. There are signs all over the island “Please DON’T feed the quokkas” this is because quokkas are getting sick because people are feeding them human food.
